Gameplay and AI Programmer

Featured projects

Beerserker: The Stolen Brew

ESAT final-year project (Grumpy Games), Gameplay and AI Programmer
Unreal Engine 5, C++. Early Access on Steam

A fast-paced arcade action game with a comical twist, made by a team of about 20. I worked mainly on the AI: the four enemy archetypes (melee, ranged, explosive and a tank mini-boss) in StateTree with C++ and Blueprints. I also built the enemy spawners and an object pool, as a plugin.

XEMA (custom C++ graphics engine)

C++, OpenGL
PC, Nintendo Switch (emulator only), PS4 port in progress

XEMA is an engine I built entirely myself in C++ and OpenGL: an ECS architecture, deferred PBR rendering with shadow mapping and instancing, a JobSystem, Lua scripting and PhysX.

Roadtrip: The Engine of Madness

Oniric Tales, Gameplay Programmer
Unity, C#. In development, Steam page live

I designed and built core gameplay systems: a component-based dialogue system, an AI perception system integrated with the behaviour trees, and a radio communication system. I also worked on the Behavior Graph, general gameplay mechanics, profiling and bug fixing.

Other projects

Abandoned Hospital

Abandoned Hospital

Academic. Unreal Engine 5, C++

A class exercise on AI Perception and EQS in Unreal Engine, with enemies and NPCs driven by a behaviour tree. After handing it in, I rebuilt it on my own with free assets and rewrote the AI from scratch in StateTree.

P0-CH45

P0-CH45

Game jam. Unity, C#

Built for Mini Jam 157: Electric. The player is a maintenance robot keeping a failing nuclear plant online: reactor components break down on a timer and power cables across the facility have to be traced and reconnected before the city loses power.

Krakendoku

Krakendoku

Personal. Unity, C#

A roguelike puzzle game: solving procedurally generated sudoku grids earns you coins and items, and mistakes cost you lives. Between puzzles, you spend your coins in a shop. Special encounters change the rules: frozen cells that thaw as correct numbers are placed, or wind that removes numbers you have to place again.

Xperimental Exploration of the Marine Abyss

Xperimental Exploration of the Marine Abyss

Game jam. Unity, C#

A survival game. The player pilots an exploration submarine down to the ruins of a lost civilisation at abyssal depth, recovering as many valuable minerals as possible and surfacing with them before running out of resources.

Full details in the CV

About me

I'm a game programmer focused on game AI, gameplay systems and procedural generation. I developed the enemy AI for Beerserker: The Stolen Brew and wrote XEMA, my own C++ and OpenGL engine, which taught me how engines are put together.

I work with Unreal and Unity. Before games I spent two and a half years as a fullstack developer on ERP software.
